Autism Initiative for Minorities Summer Internship Program

Myles-a-Part is proud to sponsor its first program through the Autism Initiative for Minorities, one of our three anchor programs. We will place students from Spelman College, Morehouse College and Clark Atlanta University in internships at two behavioral therapy centers this summer.

An interest and information meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 25 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in Room 440 in the Leadership Building on the campus of Morehouse College.

Basic Internship Overview

Dates:

June 2 - August 1

Qualifications:
  1. Minimum 2.7 GPA
  2. Classification: Rising Junior or Senior
  3. Majoring in Psychology, Education, Special Education, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech/Language (Communication Disorders)
  4. Some experience with typically developing children preferred
Program Goals:
  1. An understanding of Autism and issues surrounding educating a child with Autism.
  2. Exposure to teaching techniques related to Applied Behavior Analysis/Verbal Behavior.
  3. Understanding the importance of Data collection related to making educational decisions.
  4. Understanding evaluations used to determine goals for children with Autism.
  5. Understanding the importance of handling behavioral issues with specific techniques.
